What is Tax-Free purchasing?
Tourists can gain a refund at the VAT of products purchased within the UAE with a purpose to be exported, however, some terms and conditions apply.
Refunds are, however, not relevant to goods that have been consumed, completely or partly, inside the UAE, in addition to goods that aren't present whilst leaving the country.
How can I claim a refund on my purchasing?
While visiting a shop, request a Tax-Free purchase – which is valid on an AED250 minimal spend.
You’ll present your passport, which will be scanned for use at the charging system.
The seller then attaches a Tax-Free tag to the lower back of the sales receipt.
A digital Tax-Free form is created, which should be authorized upon departure.
Tax-Free tags need to be authorized within ninety days of the purchase.
How are the goods authorized?
Travellers need to take the products and tagged receipt to Tax-Free validation points at Dubai Airport – Terminal 1, 2, 3 and three Business, before checking in your flight.
You may be asked to produce the purchases for inspection, so plan ahead and arrive at the airport early.
Once authorized, the traveller can pick out their desired refund method.
If you're brief on time, head to one of the Planet Payment self-provider kiosks at Dubai International (DXB) or Al Maktoum International Airport at Dubai World Central (DWC). Submit the tax invoices, alongside your passport and credit card, and the kiosk will manner refunds automatically.
